Postpartum care

Caring for the newest member of your family, your baby, is exciting and challenging. The postpartum period is a precious but also very intense time. The birth of your baby is just the beginning of the journey through parenthood. And the adventure of becoming a family begins – a time of getting to know each other and finding your role as mother, father and sibling. Overwhelmed by happiness, love, but also exhaustion, fears and countless questions are part of the postpartum experience.

As a competent midwife, I am happy to accompany you on this journey and coach you through caring for your new baby during your first weeks together.

Monitoring your child’s first weeks of life outside the womb can be vital for preventing complications and making sure that mother and baby are thriving. A postpartum visit usually lasts about 60 minutes. During this visit I will check the weight gain of your baby, the healing process, and screen for possible birth injuries. This visit is also an examination of mom, including breastfeeding support, and continual monitoring of maternal emotional wellbeing. I am also happy to advise and assist you with alternative feeding options for your baby. Infant care rounds up a postpartum visit.

Initial Consultation

Interested in getting to know me personally before embarking on your postpartum care journey? No problem.
I would be delighted to visit your home for a chargeable initial consultation. During this session, we can discuss your requirements and expectations while providing you the opportunity to gain a firsthand impression of me.

Childbirth preparation course

In a childbirth preparation course at your home, I will review and discuss topics related to pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period. The course lasts 2-3 hours depending on your needs.

Acupuncture during pregnancy, birth preparation, and postpartum period

Acupuncture during pregnancy provides a natural avenue of support for expectant mothers. By strategically targeting acupuncture points with delicate needlework, we can alleviate discomfort, foster hormonal equilibrium, and enhance birth readiness. Potential ailments that can be addressed include:

  • Morning sickness
  • Symphysis relaxation
  • Edema
  • Sleep disruptions
  • Anxiety

Moreover, acupuncture can play a pivotal role in body rejuvenation and bolstering milk production during the postpartum phase.

Insurance Coverage

  • Your basic insurance comprehensively covers the expenses associated with postpartum visits.
  • For an initial consultation with the midwife OR a birth preparation course, a one-time fee of CHF 150 is covered by your basic insurance. Depending on your supplementary insurance, you might be entitled to an additional subsidy. It's advisable to verify this with your health insurance provider.
  • As for acupuncture administered by the midwife, coverage can vary from partial to complete, contingent on your supplementary insurance plan. I recommend reaching out to your health insurance provider for specific details.

Areas I serve

I am happy to take care of you if you live in the city of Zurich (Seefeld, Witikon, Hottingen), along the right shore of Lake Zurich.
